Dental Fillings

A restoration (filling) is a way to restore a tooth damaged by decay back to its normal function and shape. To treat cavities, the decayed portion of the tooth will be removed and the area on the tooth will be filled with a white composite material which looks just like the natural tooth. Fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth as well as teeth that have been worn down from misuse. White fillings are more aesthetic and a great alternative to traditional silver (amalgam) fillings.

Endodontics (Root Canals)

Endodontics (Root Canals)

Root canal treatment is done when decay will likely damage or has already killed a tooth. During a root canal treatment, the dental pulp is removed from the center of tooth and the space is filled by special type of filling material. This process prevents development of painful infection in the tooth and also it can relieve toothache, stop infection, and promote healing. At Auden Park Family Dentistry, we use the latest technology to make this treatment quick and easy.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is a relatively simple and therefore popular restoration that is used whenever the damage to a tooth is more extensive. A crown completely covers the tooth like a protective “shell” and is usually made of a natural looking and durable ceramic material which recreates the natural anatomy of the tooth.

Dental Crowns

Auden Park Family Dentistry, Kingston is now offering CEREC technology to our patients to complete dental restorations like crowns or bridges. In most cases, we can fit, design, and create your custom restoration in our office in just one day.

What is CEREC?

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction.

It is a specialized machine that allows our dentists to design and build ceramic dental restorations like crowns & bridges in office.

The CEREC technology allows us to build your custom restoration in one visit, without the need for temporary fillings or crowns.

A 3D scan is taken of your mouth (no messy or unpleasant physical impressions are needed). The image is sent to a computer where, aided by the CEREC technology, your dentist designs your new restoration.

That custom design is then sent to the CEREC machine, where it is milled from ceramic material custom shaded by your dentist to match your natural teeth using high-tech diamond-coated instruments.

Once the restoration or tooth is completed, it can be polished and cemented in place. In general, the custom restoration can be built in a couple hours. While this may seem like a long appointment, you aren’t confined to the dentist’s chair the whole time.

The one-day method is available in most situations.  Speak to your dental provider to find out more.
